Childcare in Australia – Cost, Quality and Availability
By Yvette Vignando – 8th June 2012

Quality, cost and availability of childcare in Australia is in the news. Yesterday Prime Minister Julia Gillard called an urgent meeting with some of the key stakeholders and service providers of childcare in Australia to discuss what can be done to improve the situation for Australian families.
In this video I offered my opinion on some of these areas (including the complexity of the child care rebate and child care benefit system) but I am very interested to hear from you about what you feel should be done to improve quality and accessibility of childcare in Australia. Another point that we did not get to in this discussion is the low rates of pay of childcare workers – this too needs to be discussed and remedied in my opinion. Please watch this video from Channel 9 Mornings and let me know what you think?
